Understanding Odds Formats

Decimal Odds

The most common format online. Represents your total return per unit staked including your stake back. Odds of 3.00 mean a £10 bet returns £30 (£20 profit + £10 stake).

Fractional Odds

Traditional UK format. The numerator shows profit, the denominator shows stake. Odds of 2/1 mean you win £2 for every £1 staked. Evens (1/1) means you double your money.

American (Moneyline) Odds

Used by US sportsbooks. Positive odds (+200) show profit on a $100 bet. Negative odds (–150) show how much you must stake to win $100. +200 = 3.00 decimal.

Implied Probability

The percentage chance the bookmaker's odds imply for an outcome. Odds of 3.00 imply a 33.3% chance. The total implied probability across all outcomes in a market exceeds 100% — that's the bookmaker's margin.
